Omniture Competition
So Ben and Dan entered a competition through the U of U where they were able to win $2500! It was a competition hosted by Omniture (Utah’s largest tech/software company) for BYU and U of U business students, where they were taught to use website analytical software and had to analyze Overstock.com’s website and then present on suggestions to improve the website based on their analyses. About 70 teams entered from the U of U and BYU, and the top two teams from each school were chosen to compete in a final competition, after an initial screening and presentations by selected teams. Ben and Dan (”The Sandpit Ninjas”) ended up being one of the top two teams chosen from the U so ended up at the final competition on March 5th, where they won 3rd place overall. Jen, Nate, and I were able to go and watch them compete down at BYU, which was really fun. I was so proud of Ben! He and Daniel worked really hard and ended up with a stellar presentation, and several people commented they thought they had the best presentation style out of the 4 teams. The best and most exciting part for Ben hands down was being able to hold one of those big checks and take it home with him!! The best part for me and Jen was that we won an awesome date out of the whole thing — see next post…
