Max gets a new job

Max was tired of the indentured servitude at home, so he went and found a new job. You’d better watch out for him on the freeway or he’ll pull you over.

Swimming at the Stirlands!

We arrived in Dallas yesterday and spent the night at Laquinta Inn. Love their breakfasts! Celeste thinks its funny that I make the decision of where to stay by they he quality of their breakfasts. :)
While it was fun getting breakfast, swimming, and bouncing around the hotel room, it sure was nice to get toThe Stirland’s home. Mason and Max have loved playing with their cousins. They put up a tent, had a war with plastic balls, played with a train set, and went swimming! Swimming in early April! Gotta love this Texas weather.

Another example of indentured servitude?

When Mason wasn’t even quite a year old, it came to light that Celeste had already been sending him off to work. She justifies herself with something about her having carried them in her womb for 9 months, all the tears trying to get them to stay on their back for diaper changes, and what not.

So, last night Celeste was gone to a “Square Foot Gardening” class over at Thanksgiving Point and that meant I was left to put they boys down to bed myself. Before bed I asked if Mason would come help clean up his toys and he, of course, immediately beelines it for one of his favorite hiding spots. That wasn’t surprising. What was surprising though, is that Max started picking up toys and putting them in the storage bin!

Max has always carried the nickname of King Noah because his personality has traditionally been one to lay back and let us feed him. Until last night he had never shown any inclination towards hunter/gatherer. So, my best guess is that Celeste has already signed him up as an indentured servant - we’ll continue to feed him and put a roof over his house so long as he slaves away for the next 18 years.

Anyhow, here’s the evidence that Celeste is running her own little sweat shop:

More whipped topping please

This morning Celeste made a scrumptious breakfast - chocolate chip pancakes, blue and boisenberry topping, eggs, and bacon. However, we were out of whipped topping, a standard layer we put down between the pancakes and berries. It was obviously a concern for Mason.

When Mason said the blessing on our food he included the inquiry “please help Heavenly Father to make some more whipped topping.”

It touches Celeste and I to see Mason wanting to say his own prayers - it gives us hope that we may be doing something right. What a joy he and Max bring us!

Mason gets his learners permit

Mason just got his learners permit the other day. We gave him permission to take Max for a spin. We’re thinking we may need to get him a bigger ride.

Mason singing ABCs and Book Of Mormon Strories

Mason amazed us when he started singing the ABCs song. We haven’t taught it to him and try to not let him watch too much tv so he must have learned it in nursery or from a friend.

The second song here is one he definitely learned in nursery.

Whenever Mason sings, or if we have music playing, Max loves to bob up and down and wave his arms along. Needless to say, we’re quite proud of these boys.

Underwear Bandits

Mason and Max are both big in the crime fighting scene. The other day Mason caught Max in the act of wrecking our local transportation hub (Masons train set). In order to protect their identities in future crime busts (and to restore order, distracting them from the battle that had begun) I hooked them up with these super secretive crime fighting uniforms:

Max is Here!

Sorry to those out of town, Max has already been here two weeks and I’m just finally getting this post put up with pictures - the last two weeks has been a whirlwind trying to adjust to having 2 kids now.

Max is an absolute angel during the day (not quite as much at night - still often gets up for food or cuddling every 2 hours). Mason was good for the first day, then was horribly jealous (with matching behavior) for several days, but has now gone back to his sweet self as well. Both boys are very sweet and bring us so much happiness and joy. We couldn’t imagine not having one of them with us.

Here are some pictures of our cute little new addition:

Just Couldn’t Say No

I was shopping with Mason today - we went to Macy’s in Pleasant Grove because we were already in the neighborhood.

When we rolled past the Jello I quickly grabbed a box and threw it in the cart - it seemed like a decent price and I thought we needed some anyhow. When Mason saw me throw it in the cart he said “More” and leaned towards the boxes of Jello hoping that one would magically fall into his hands. It was really cute, so I had to get another for him to hold and put in the cart himself… and so it began.

After tossing the additional box of Jello into the cart he said “more” again and leaned once more. I should have just rolled the cart away, but I knew he wouldn’t have anything to do with that - so I got him another. 5 minutes later, and we had collected a small fortune of Jello… 80 boxes to be exact.

Don’t believe me? Check the pics:

Violation of child labor laws?

image

I’m not sure whether or not this violates child labor laws… but I had to post this picture anyway. I’m proud of Celeste for putting him to work at a young age and I’m even more proud of him looking so stinkin’ cute.

I especially love that sneaky little grin of his, like he’s about to wallup Mommy with the broom. :)
